Major League Baseball could have a worldwide draft in place relatively soon.

MLB and the MLB Players Association are pushing to strike a deal for a worldwide draft by June 1st, according to a report.

If the sides don't reach a deal then expanded international spending restrictions will take effect.

Instituted in 1965, the draft does not apply to international players. Instead, amateur players from countries such as Venezuela and the Dominican Republic negotiate bonuses with teams.

The Rangers are keeping an eye on Joba Chamberlain.

Texas had a member of their front office scout the right-hander this week, believing perhaps the Yankees have bullpen depth.

In five spring outings, Chamberlain has thrown five innings, given up four hits, walked two and whiffed three.
